Information for your visit
The Sedgwick Museum does not have a cafe on site and eating and drinking is not allowed in the Museum. The Whale cafe at the nearby Museum of Zoology is open to the public. Our team will be happy to tell you about other local places to eat and drink. There are several open spaces nearby for picnics in good weather.
Yes there is one toilet available for visitors. An accessible toilet is available within the Department of Earth Sciences, Museum staff can provide access to this. The nearest Changing Spaces toilet is in Cambridge Shopmobility/Lion Yard which is opposite the Museum. https://www.changing-places.org/
Yes there are baby changing facilities in both the Museum toilet and the Department of Earth Sciences accessible toilet.
Yes the Museum has a small lift.
Please read the following information to check if the lift is suitable for your needs. The lift is not suitable for large buggies or large wheelchairs (the lift floor measures 105cm wide by 80cm deep, but the door is only 69cm wide). If your wheelchair or scooter will not fit in the lift, there is a folding wheelchair available that you can borrow within the Museum. You must be able self-transfer or be accompanied by someone who can assist you.

Yes we welcome photography for personal, non-commercial use. Please tag us on social media! @SedgwickMuseum
There are coat-hooks available in the entrance of the Museum. Please note that these are used strictly at visitors' own risk and the Museum accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. The Museum is unable to store personal items in any offices or behind the front desk.
We welcome service dogs to the Museum, please make sure your dog is wearing their official harness or coat. If your dog is not a trained service animal, unfortunately, they cannot come into the Museum. This for the benefit and safety of other visitors and our collections. In order to mitigate risk, we can only allow identifiable service animals into the Museum. You are welcome to wait outside and we will happily provide water for your furry friend.
Yes you can bring a school or community group but you will need to book in advance regardless of group size. Please book via our online booking system at least two weeks in advance.
